David Dreessen joined Nth Power in 1999. As a principal of the firm, he plays a critical role in sourcing and assessing investment opportunities, due diligence, and deal structuring.  He has led or been closely involved in thirteen of Nth Power’s initial investments in portfolio companies including Evergreen Solar,  SpectraSensors, Encorp, Superprotonic, SmartSynch, and AllConnect.  He has participated on the Boards of four Nth Power companies and in two cases served in an interim senior management position.

Prior to joining Nth Power, Mr. Dreessen was a founding member of the Structure Group, a leading IT services consulting and software firm serving the utility industry. Prior to that, Mr. Dreessen was a consultant for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting).  He has advised clients in generation, as well as retail services strategy for the deregulated electricity markets.  Earlier in his career, Mr. Dreessen was a Naval officer and engineering program manager for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Headquarters, which is responsible for all aspects of the design, operation, repair and disposal of U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion plants.

Mr. Dreessen holds a bachelor's degrees in chemical engineering with high honors and economics with honors from the University of California at Davis and an MBA from Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
