Nth Power’s Special Limited Partners are important advisors to Nth Power and its companies. These individuals bring experience and insight in the areas of energy, venture capital and technology.

Catherine P. Lego
Catherine Lego, who has 19 years of experience in the venture capital industry, was a general partner in Oak Investment Partners Funds III, IV and V, which had $400 million under management. Her fields of investment expertise include telecommunications, computer hardware and software and semiconductor technology. Ms. Lego recently started a consulting firm focused on the financing needs of young technology companies.

Robert W. Shaw, Jr., Ph.D.
Dr. Robert Shaw is the pioneer of venture capital utility investments having launched the first of now six funds in 1985. He is currently president of Arete Corporation and manager of the Micro-Generation Technology Fund. He is also the managing general partner of five Utech funds. The funds Dr. Shaw manages have invested in 77 companies. Several of these companies have now gone public including Ballard Power, American Superconductor, ATMI and AstroPower.

Prior to forming Arete in 1983, Dr. Shaw was senior vice president of Booz, Allen & Hamilton's energy practice and a member of the firm's board of directors. Earlier in his career, he conducted materials and electronics research at Bell Laboratories at the Cavendish Laboratory in the United Kingdom.

Mason Willrich
Mason Willrich previously served as a founder and chairman of the board of EnergyWorks from its start in 1995 through 1998. From 1989 to 1994, he served as CEO of PG&E Enterprises which he formed and grew to profitable operations with assets of $3 billion.

Mr. Willrich is a member of the advisory councils of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Electric Power Research Institute and the California Energy Commission’s Public Interest Energy Research Program. He served one year as vice chair of the U.S. Department of Energy Task Force on Strategic Energy R&D.

Mr. Willrich has authored nine books and numerous articles on energy policy and international security issues. He serves on the board of Evergreen Solar.
